Absolut Festival Gallery has opened today at Galway Shopping Centre. With FREE Admission guests have the opportunity to view an exhibtion from Hughie O’Donoghue, one of Ireland’s leading international artists. Hughie has exhibited all over the world with major exhibitions at the Imperial War Museum, London, Leeds Art Gallery and a retrospective at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. The Road will have its premiere at Galway Arts Festival prior to a three–month showing at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, Prague. The exhibition will feature the monumental painting, Painting Caserta Red (pictured), coupled withTomb of the Diver, and the new work, Road a painting in 60 parts, which will form the core of the exhibition. Complementing these works are selected paintings, which elaborate on the theme of the road as metaphor.
